Immaculate is a 2024 American psychological horror film directed by Michael Mohan and written by Andrew Lobel. The film stars Sydney Sweeney, Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli, and Simona Tabasco.
In the film, Sydney Sweeney plays Cecilia, a devoted woman who is welcomed to a monastery in rural Italy, where her attempts to live out her faith are met with resistance. Cecilia grows increasingly determined to comprehend the inner workings of the church. Her investigation yields some disturbing findings, such as a covert scheme devised by one of the priests (Álvaro Morte). Cecilia chooses to take control of her own fate and makes an attempt to flee.
What to love about this movie is its different approach among the famous religious horror films, with its attempts to be a kind of surrealist portrait of Catholic terror. The way that it is a slow and terrifying burn, along with gory scenes and a lot of jump scares, was a good catch. And Sydney Sweeney DELIVERS in Immaculate; she did a great job, especially with her jaw-dropping ending scene that will surely be talked about for a long time.
Overall, the movie was well written and produced, and it might just be one of the best religious films of all time. There were wonderful performances by the cast, and the cinematography and music were top-tier.
Don't miss out on this amazing film now showing in cinemas nationwide.
